We were awarded the main prize

The D1 motorway section Sverepec – Vrtižer, Stage 1, km 0.000 – 4.900 /The In-town Flyover Považská Bystrica, together with the new Bratislava’s ward Eurovea, were awarded the main prize of the “Construction of the Year 2010” contest. To the motorway section constructed by Doprastav as a leading member of the Consortium Sverepec – Vrtižer belong yet another two prizes, namely the: Prize of the Minister of Economy and Construction of the SR for the Benefit for the Whole Society and the Prize of the Civil Engineering Faculty of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, for the application of science and engineering technologies at construction Works implementation. 
The results announcement and the ceremonial handing over of prizes of the 16th annual event of the prestigious nation-wide public competition of completed projects took place on October 7 in Bratislava. This year’s event was held under the patronage of Mr. Ivan Gašparovič, the president of the SR. In addition to other important guests the gala evening was attended also by Mr. Ján Figeľ, the 1st deputy prime minister of the government of the SR and the minister of transport, posts and telecommunications, who was handing over some of the prizes.

The competition is organised by the Association for the Development of Slovakia’s Architecture and Construction Industry – the ABF Slovakia. The objective of enunciation of this competition is the support of the quality of complex execution of engineering Works as integral part of the integrated system of quality assurance procedures in the construction process and the construction industry.

In this annual event there were 30 structures competing for the title “Construction of the Year 2010”. 17 of them were constructed in Bratislava and 13 in other Slovakia’s regions. Together 14 prizes were awarded to nine structures, of which 5 were in Bratislava.

The projects entered in the competition were being assessed by an expert jury formed by seven members with an international participation, the chairman of which was the well-known Czech architect, doc. Eng. Petr Hrůša, authorized architect of the Czech Chamber of Architects with a number of successfully executed projects in the Czech republic as well as abroad and a lecturer of technical universities in Brno and Ostrava. Also in this annual event the jury was complemented by an expert for transport-related structures, Prof. Eng. Ivan Gschwendt, DrSc., the emeritus professor. For the second time in the event history the possibility to vote for the most attractive structure was given also to the general public. The structure with the highest number of votes was awarded the “Prize of the Public 2010” award.

MAIN PRIZES “THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE YEAR 2010”

Exceptionally in this competition annual event there were two main prizes “Construction of the Year 2010” awarded, namely to:

(1) Bratislava’s stylish contemporary ward EUROVEA situated at the left bank of the Danube River, new Works, Bratislava, the “Pribinova” Str.;

(2) from various points of view significant engineering Works, the D1 motorway section Sverepec – Vrtižer, Stage 1, km 0.000 – 4.900/the In-town Flyover, Považská Bystrica.  

THE PRIZES OF THE ENUNCIATORS

(1)  The prize of the Building Testing and Research Institute, n-p. o. for optimal use of progressive construction materials, products or systems at implementation of the CASSOVAR BUSINESS CENTER I construction, new Works, Košice, Staré Mesto (the Old Town), the “Žriedlová” Str. N°13

(2)  The prize of the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs of Slovakia for high quality of construction execution, the Viticultural complex ELESKO, new Works, cadastral area Modra, the District of Pezinok

(3)  The prize of the STU in Bratislava, the Civil Engineering Faculty, for the application of science and engineering technologies at construction Works implementation, the D1 motorway section Sverepec – Vrtižer, Stage 1, km 0.000 – 4.900/the In-town Flyover, Považská Bystrica

(4) The prize of the EUROSTAV, s. r. o. publishing house for complex progressive design of architectonic Works belongs to the reconstruction, the Reconstruction of the burger’s house, Spišská Sobota – the town’s protected monuments reservation, the “Sobotské nám.” square.
(5) The prize of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers for the best engineering design of construction Works, the MANHATTAN apartment house, new Works, Bratislava, Račianska Str. 69/A

(6) The prize of the Association for the Development of Slovakia’s Architecture and Construction Industry – the ABF Slovakia for the original urbanistic and architectonic design of construction Works, the AIRCRAFT polyfunctional facility, new Works, Bratislava, Ivanská cesta 30/B

(7) The prize of the “Prvá stavebná sporiteľňa, a. s.” savings bank, the “RESIDENTIAL BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2010” prize (including the family house), the GERCENOVA Centrum, polyfunctional residential buildings, structures 3 – 5, new Works, Bratislava, the City District Petržalka, streets: Gercenova, Záporožská
