The section Žarnovica – Šášovské Podhradie, Stage 2, of the R1 expressway was ceremonially opened to traffic on January 20 in the presence of Mr. Ján Figeľ, the first deputy prime minister of the government of the SR and the minister of transport, construction and regional development of the SR. The new expressway section began to serve the motorists from Friday, January 21. The company Doprastav was the leading member of the Consortium Žarnovica II, which had constructed this section.
